WELCOME

Here at Behavioural Reading™ we have independently studied the latest cognitive and neurological research, and broken down the techniques that a great reader uses, to develop successful solutions.   We believe the BRPOD/ANDUP methods are 100 years ahead of practice seen in most Australian schools given that it has taken nearly 30 years for phonological awareness to gain traction from 1990 to now. We are proud advocates of phonological awareness as it is rightfully promoted as the best evidence based methodology, but if it has failed, what comes next? And that is where BR and POD come in because as we found back in 1995  phonological awareness has its limitations once the early developmental window passes.

The whole package has taken over 30 years from conception to now. It combines the best of teaching, coaching, psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy, behavioural optometry and the neuro-plasticity concepts all built into a computer delivered intervention along with a few 'lessons' face to face for the special 'human factor'. Marrying together our modern fast world with a human 'animal brain' that is many millennia old faces unique challenges. The underlying biology, chemistry, developmental processes and primary human instincts are all indisputable factors which will influence every educational outcome. Working with them is paramount as ignoring them is nonsensical.

 

Our impressive results are facilitated by an innovative software design that allows for ease of programming as new observations and knowledge occurs. Neuro-plasticity theory and its applications are proving incredibly exciting because of the incredibly short turn around time from observation,  hypothesis,  programming, to evaluation. This means that a unique change can be tailored to an individual or else that an additional feature can be added to re-mediate a whole extra deficit just by a small, yet vital feature being added or modified.   

 

BehaviouralReading has only recently begun its foray into schools from late 2015. It had been running successfully in a Reading Clinic setting for over 12 years in Australia and is now used by an increasing number of schools and teachers across Australia and around the world. 

 

It has been our dream that every child in a school should be able to read and learn without 'learning disabilities' or 'dyslexia'. A proactive cluster of schools in the Hunter Valley are now achieving this.
